HIST 379 - Modern Latin American History Since 1820 Credit Hours: 4 This course will introduce students to the main events in the history of Latin America from Independence to the present. The class is organized around certain themes that cut across the Latin American continent: the development of political cultures, liberalism, neocolonialism, industrialization, nationalism, etc. We will explore the impact of these events on people’s lives, paying special attention to geographical regions, class, gender, race and ethnicity.
