TDPS 258 - Dance in History Credit Hours: 4 Frequency of Offering: Offered in alternate years, usually in the spring semester
Designed for the general student, this course will serve as an introduction to dance as a theatrical art form and an expression of popular culture. The function and significance of dance will be examined in relationship to historical periods and a variety of cultures. Particular emphasis will be placed on the development of 20th-century American dance and its roots in Asian, European, and African traditions.
Course Satisfies: Core Exploration requirement in Arts.
