BIOL 471 - Molecular Biology Credit Hours: 4 Frequency of Offering: Offered annually in the spring semester
An integrated lecture and laboratory course on the theoretical basis and laboratory practice of modern molecular biology. An initial examination of the biochemistry of nucleic acids and the structure and expression of genes will be followed by an exploration of the recombinant DNA methods used to study genes. Using current research literature, students will also learn how molecular techniques are applied to problems in human genetics, medicine, plant biology and industry.
Co-requisite(s): CHEM 311 or consent of instructor.
