SOCI 353 - Sociology of Education Credit Hours: 4 This course explores sociological theories and approaches to education as a social institution, with primary attention given to the organization of formal schooling in modern societies, the history and changing meaning of education, the global trend toward mass education, the relationship between education and the labor market, and the degree to which schooling both challenges and reproduces existing social inequality and economic arrangements.
