Minor in Educational Studies
The minor in educational studies provides a strong base of knowledge on the teaching and learning process provided to students in the current K-12 educational system in the nation. Each course is steeped in current best practices for equity and access to learning for all populations of students.
This minor is recommended for anyone interested in teaching or and other education-related careers; the minor supports teacher licensure through , on its own, does not lead to initial teacher certification . T the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). degree confers teacher certification. This program is steeped in current best practices for equity and access to learning for all populations of students.
No more than 8 credits towards the minor can be transferred in from other institutions. For information about transferring courses from other institutions, please contact the Educational Studies department chair.
Completion of the minor or equivalent course work is a prerequisite for admission to the MAT, but does not guarantee that a student will be admitted to the program. There are also specific content courses required for teacher licensure certification in Maryland. Students who are considering the MAT should meet with their advisor and or an educational studies faculty member about course selection. Learning Outcomes
